Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, and grew up in Zurich, Switzerland. She holds Fine Arts degree in architecture from Umeå University and a Master of Science degree in philosophy from the University of Glasgow. Based in Zurich, has been working on monochrome paintings that are inspired by philosophical concept with architectural thoughts behind it. As well as paintings, she also works on sculptures that gives people feelings of physicality, invites audience to the space of her inner thoughts.

Malmcrona’s practice centers on an exploration of space and the ways we perceive and inhabit it, with a particular focus on the relationship between the natural and the built environment. Her work unfolds through abstract landscapes, conceptual cartographies, and imagined structures, moving fluidly across these intersecting yet distinct modes of inquiry.

At the core of Malmcrona’s approach is a desire to shift attention away from society’s fixation on objects, instead foregrounding shared, phenomenological experiences that transcend individual ideologies and self-focused narratives. Through abstraction, she resists literal representation, opening space for layered interpretations and the multiplicity of meanings that exist beyond the visible.

For Malmcrona, the artwork functions as a portal—a suspended moment offering emotional respite from the constant influx of information that defines contemporary life. Informed by modern and contemporary perspectives across art, architecture, literature, and philosophy, her practice investigates the continuities between these disciplines. She works primarily across drawing, painting, and sculpture.
