Marta Ravasi
- Born IT, 1987, Lives and works in Milan, IT
Marta Ravasi was born in 1987 in Merate (Lecco), Italy, and is currently based in Milan. She works primarily in abstract expression through oil painting, and in recent years has been developing a series of small-scale canvases. Her research focuses on exploring the very existence of “painting” itself, using traditional motifs as a way to question and reexamine its essence. The visible brushstrokes, dense textures, and the play of light and color go beyond merely depicting a motif, seeming instead to reflect the atmosphere of the surrounding space and environment. “I am challenging the concept of painting and the tradition of still life,” Ravasi notes, as she continues to experiment on the canvas while seeking new approaches. Recent solo exhibitions include; Solo Geometry, Painter Painting Paintings, September 2024; Marta Ravasi, Diez Gallery, Amsterdam NL, July 2024; Bucce, Galleria Acappella, Napoles, 2023; Group shows include: The Things We Don't Know, curated by Rossella Traverso, Romero Paprocki, March 2025. Pittura Italiana Oggi, Triennale, Milan, 2023
